Site Information

InformationThis area of the site pertains to possible answers to questions that might come up when viewing this site.  If you are still having problems, please drop me a line.

Here are some topics that will make your site viewing more pleasurable:

  • Although there are several different browsers out there (Netscape, Opera, Mozilla), this site is best viewed using the latest version of Internet Explorer.  Several pages incorporate ActiveX components, and future additions will follow suit.

  • If you are running the latest version of Windows XP with SP2 (Service Pack 2), you may encounter a browser pop-up that looks similar to the image below.  This site uses instances of JavaScript, ActiveX, Flash, and others.  SP2 gives you better security features that give you a choice to download and utilize parts of the site.

  • If your security settings are set to "high" in Internet Explorer, you will not be able to view areas of this site.  You can adjust your settings by accessing your "Internet options" in your "Tools" menu.  Below is an image of how the window will look.

  • You should have the latest versions of Windows Media Player (ships with all versions of Windows), the Flash pluggin, and QuickTime player (www.apple.com/quicktime)

  • If you have third party pop-up blockers, you might want to turn them off, or consider adding this site as a "safe site".  Future additions to this site will incorporate pop-up windows.  This site is not part of a free hosting service, so you won't have to worry about ads from trentonhistory.net.

  • This site does not and never will incorporate any spyware of any kind.  We are hosted on a UNIX based server, so you won't have to worry about cookies being stored when you first access this site.  If we do decide to move to an NT based server, a cookie will be added to your computer.  If you want to have more control as to what cookies will be on your system, you can set your "privacy" control to the settings listed below (fig. 1).  Click the "Advance" button and you will receive a window to change your cookie settings (fig 2).  If you choose the settings as shown in fig. 2, you will get a popup window when you go to certain areas of the web that gives you an option to accept a cookie (fig 3).  If you trust the site, accept the cookie.
